Fox Chase Urology Just Took a Big Leap Forward

Five urologic specialists recently joined Fox Chase Cancer Center. From left to right: Eric M. Ghiraldi, DO; Joshua Cohn, MD, FPMRS; Jay Simhan, MD, FACS; Steve Sterious, MD, FACS; and Justin I. Friedlander, MD

Urologic patient care in the Delaware Valley just took a great leap forward as a new team of five benign urologists joined Fox Chase Cancer Center and Temple Health—bringing extensive experience in all benign urologic conditions and advanced reconstructive surgery options for cancer-related issues. Leading the team is Jay Simhan, MD, FACS, Professor and Director of Reconstructive Urology in the Division of Urology and Urologic Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center.

“The additions of Dr. Simhan, Dr. Cohn, Dr. Friedlander, Dr. Ghiraldi, and Dr. Sterious to our urology practice represents an exciting step forward in our clinical offerings for patients with urologic conditions, further distinguishing us as leaders in the field,” said Robert Uzzo, MD, MBA, FACS, President & CEO of Fox Chase Cancer Center.

Dr. Simhan describes his approach: “Someone may need cancer treatment to save their life but could develop functional problems due to the therapy. As a reconstructive urologic surgeon, restoring function back to ‘how it was before,’ or as close to it as possible, is unbelievably rewarding as I help someone’s self-esteem return.”

The new urology group will work hand in hand with world-class Fox Chase urologic oncologists, led by Alexander Kutikov, MD, FACS, Chief, Division of Urology and Urologic Oncology—a unique collaboration that fosters synergy, discovery, and improved patient care.
