Chapters Transcript Video Dr. Jay Simhan Temple health has some of the highest volume in reconstructive and prosthetic urology patients in the region, but also in the country. And I'm very lucky to be a part of a team that leads in these types of areas day in and day out. My name is J. Sim Han. I am a professor of urology here at Temple Health and I'm director of the reconstructive Urology Program. My clinical focus is in reconstructive urology and prosthetic urology. What I do in terms of prosthetics is help treat men that have a urinary leakage problem. Or I also treat erectile dysfunction that doesn't work um ordinarily with conventional medical therapy, the conditions I see routinely are urethral stricture disease, surgical erectile dysfunction. Male stressing Continent Peron's disease as well as complications from urology based cancer treatments like prostate cancer or bladder cancer that require a reconstruction. One of the key things that we do is surgical reconstruction of the urethra. My area of reconstruction really traverse is from the abdominal area all the way through the perennial area within male prosthetic urology. There's several procedures that I would say are the bedrock of prosthetics. So for patients that have years of difficulty with leakage, this gets them right back into the game where they're able to control their urinary flow. And so for me if it's a nonsurgical treatment that you're pursuing. We're happy to help delineate what nonsurgical options exist for you as well as the surgical options as well. The conditions that patients are most complaining about or bothered with are really all quality of life issues. I'm really lucky to help lead a team here that helps drive nationally in terms of how much volume we do. It helps drive nationally in terms of our outcomes, we helped drive nationally in terms of the future of reconstructive urology. I try very hard to have patients come back to the office tell us how they're doing just to see that they're they're okay and their life is back and I take great pride and pleasure at those events.
