A high honor for Robert Uzzo, MD, MBA, FACS, President and CEO of Fox Chase Cancer Center and Executive Director of the Fox Chase-Temple Urologic Institute—recently recognized with the Society of Urologic Oncology’s Joseph A. Smith Jr. Mentorship Award for carrying on the legacy of Joseph “Jay” A. Smith, MD, and "mentoring urologic oncology trainees—a role foundational to Uzzo’s work. As part of the award, Uzzo presented a lecture on the importance of mentorship at the 24th Annual Meeting of the Society of Urologic Oncology, entitled “Take Inventory, Embrace Failure, Move Forward, Be Grateful.” Read more.
An international award for leadership goes to Elizabeth Plimack, MD, MS, Deputy Director and Professor in the Department of Hematology/Oncology at Fox Chase, as a new fellow of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). Plimack is renowned for her clinical expertise and innovative research in preventing and curing kidney and bladder cancers and her major contributions to clinical trial design and implantation. Plimack’s accomplishments will be officially recognized at the opening session of the ASCO Annual Meeting in June 2024. Read more.
Alexander Kutikov, MD, carries on the tradition of Fox Chase brilliance and will receive the Andrew C. Novick Award from the Kidney Cancer Association. Kutikov is Chair and Professor, Department of Urology; the Roberta R. Scheller Chair in Urologic Oncology; and a Fox Chase-Temple Urologic Institute provider. The award recognizes the world’s most respected clinicians in urology and oncology for treating kidney cancer. Coming full circle, Kutikov trained under Fox Chase President and CEO Dr. Robert Uzzo, who was mentored by Dr. Andrew C. Novick, the namesake of this international award. Read more.
